Dragon (see also Satan)
The dragon, referred to as “a great, fiery red dragon” in the 12th chapter of Revelation, is the evil spiritual entity commonly known as the Devil or Satan. He is described as having drawn away “a third of the stars of heaven” (angels) and standing “before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she bore her child, he might devour it” (Revelation 12: 4). A few verses later, this dragon is clearly identified as Satan: “The great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world” (Revelation 12:9; Job 1:6–12).
