The Bible foretells a period of time known in Scripture as the “Last Days,” which refers to the era preceding the Second Coming of Jesus Christ (2 Timothy 3:1). His return to earth will usher in a new millennium of peace, cessation of war and violence, and justice and equity for all humankind.

Both the Old and New Testaments are filled with promises of the Second Coming of Christ. There are 1,845 references to Jesus’ return in the Old Testament, and 318 references in the New Testament, or one out of 30 verses. For every prophecy in the Bible of the first coming of Christ, there are eight referencing Christ's Second Coming.

When Jesus' disciples wanted to know the future and asked Him, “What shall be the sign of your coming and of the end of the world?” He didn't reply with only one sign, but with several.

The Bible gives us these “signs of the times,” to look out for so that we can know how close to His coming we are. “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come” (Matthew 24:42).
