Devil (or Satan)
Satan, or the Devil, was the mightiest of the archangels, who through pride, jealousy and ambition, sinned and fell, and thereby became the infernal foe of all righteousness (2 Corinthians 4:4). A great company of angels followed him in his immoral fall (Revelation 12:7–9). Satan is the original perpetrator of sin, as through subtlety he tempted and led Adam and Eve into transgression and their fall from their sinless state. Satan will be absolutely defeated at the Battle of Armageddon (Isaiah 14:12–15; Revelation 20:1–3; 8, 10).
