The word “Armageddon” is derived from the Hebrew har megiddôn, “hill (or height) of Megiddo,” a reference to a site in northern Israel, east of Haifa. The Antichrist will lead his armies there against those who still oppose him. But Jesus and His army of saints—all of His born-again and resurrected children from throughout the ages—will return to earth on majestic white horses to destroy the Antichrist and his evil forces in the apocalyptic Battle of Armageddon (Revelation 16:12–16; 19:11–21; Zechariah 14:1–5).
